Undergraduate Admission Appeal: Office of Admissions and Scholarships
To outline the steps for a student to appeal a denial of undergraduate admission.
Undergraduate applicants that have been denied admission.
An undergraduate student that is denied admission and requests to appeal the decision must complete these steps:
The student must write a formal letter of appeal explaining any extenuating circumstances, low grades, why the student believes they will be successful at KU and any other information that they would like the committee to know about them. A letter of recommendation must be written from someone that can talk about the student’s academic abilities. Then a questionnaire will be sent to the student to complete and return. All of these documents and the documents in the student’s application file will be reviewed by the Admissions Appeal Committee. This committee of faculty, academic advisors and/or staff meets once a month or on an as-needed basis. The decision of the committee is final and may not be appealed again for the same term.
