Purpose:

Prevent unauthorized use of a lost or stolen KU Card.

Applies to:

Students, Faculty, Staff, and other members of the KU community

Campus:
Edwards
Lawrence
Policy Statement:

In order to prevent unauthorized use, it is the cardholder’s responsibility to report a lost or stolen KU Card. The University of Kansas is not liable for financial loss or criminal repercussions associated with lost, stolen, damaged, or fraudulently used KU Cards. It is your campus identification card and may serve as building access instrument. Your KU Card should be carried with you at all times and available to present to university officials upon request. Do not lend your KU Card to a friend or fellow student.

If your KU Card has been lost or stolen, it must be deactivated immediately online via the Kyou portal (login, click the “Finances” tab and then choose the “Report your KU Card lost or stolen” link).

When a KU Card is deactivated, the cardholder’s residence hall access, dining plan access, and student recreation center access will automatically be suspended. To suspend other features/services (i.e., services offered by the Libraries, and other departmental systems) the cardholder must contact the appropriate office. It is also the cardholder’s responsibility to obtain a replacement card.

Please note: If your KU Card is replaced due to lost or theft, it is deactivated and cannot be reactivated, if found. Only the latest card printed is valid.

Consequences:

Unauthorized use and charges of a lost or stolen KU Card.
