Scholarship Renewal Criteria and Review Process

Procedure
Purpose: 

Provide details relating to the academic renewal criteria of renewable FAS scholarships and partial tuition waivers. 

Applies to: 

Freshmen and transfer students with renewable FAS scholarships and partial tuition waiver at the University of Kansas.

Policy Statement: 

FAS scholarships offered to incoming freshmen will expire after four years of undergraduate study or upon earning an undergraduate degree; whichever occurs first. FAS scholarships offered to incoming transfer will expire after three years of undergraduate study or upon earning an undergraduate degree; whichever occurs first.

Students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 KU GPA and be a full-time student (12 hours or more per semester). The renewal is for 8 semesters at KU or conferral of the first bachelor’s degree, whichever occurs first. If the scholarship recipient meets the renewal criteria, the scholarship will be renewed for the upcoming academic year. If the renewal criteria are not met, the student will not receive the scholarship for the upcoming academic year. At any time, the scholarship will be reinstated if the student should meet the renewal criteria.
