KUMC Immunization Requirements for International Students, Short-term (≤ 4 weeks) from Non-Exempt TB Endemic Countries
To outline specific immunization requirements for short-term international students from non-exempt TB endemic countries.
This policy will impact the health and safety concerns for students and maintain patient safety.
International Students at KUMC Campus only.
Documentation of the following is required for all Short Term International Students, defined as those who attend clinical rotations or study at KU for a time period of four weeks or less. Students from Non-Exempt TB Endemic Countries as specified by the KDHE shall be subject to the TB requirements as listed in this policy.
A copy of the lab report must be submitted with the application, with English translation. Lab reports must include interpretative data. If adequate immunization has not been received by the student prior to the blood tests, the blood tests will show lack of immunity and booster shots may be required. It is recommended that full immunization be finished before the blood tests are completed.
Students who fail to comply with immunization requirements may not be able to enroll for the upcoming term and they will not be able to participate in their clinical rotations.
